BIOGRAPHY

I am a graduate of a liberal arts college (The College of Wooster) and did my PhD at the University of Chicago where I studied the modulation of lipid metabolism by dengue virus. In 2017, I came to the tenOever lab where I had two major areas of focus: 1) how viruses manipulate cellular machinery to facilitate their replication; and 2) how the cell regulates the antiviral interferon response. Ben’s interest in the evolution of antiviral systems infected me early on, and inspired me to pursue a third area of research in my current lab: determining the antiviral systems of protists, how the giant viruses that infect them navigate these defenses, and what this has to say about the evolution of antiviral systems in higher eukaryotes.
