BIOGRAPHY

As a Research Associate in the tenOever lab, Ilona investigated FDA-approved therapeutics for potential utility in treating the adverse effects of SARS-CoV-2. Her growing interest in host responses to viruses and her background in neuroscience culminated into her drive to pursue a PhD in neuroscience focusing on glial biology and neuroimmunology at the University of Pennsylvania. Ilona used to play professional tennis as a junior, and even received a full-ride scholarship to play for the Georgia State University Women’s Tennis team.
